Land Area: 250,000 sq.m.
Floor Area: 140,000 sq.m.

Fengshen Garden is located in Huadu, a nearby suburb of Guangzhou. Designed as a residential community for the Dongfeng Nissan automobile manufacturing factory employees, the project consists of nearly 500,000 square meters of low-rise and high-rise residential, townhouses, villas, clubhouse, retail and hotel facilities. The production factory building neighbors the development, so the challenge for designers was to create an environment to allow residents to relax and forget the stress of their workday. The architectural design style is reminiscent of European hill town architecture, with lush, natural landscaping and water features.
Public areas of the project include an open town square, dock and boat launce, waterfront promenade, hotel, entertainment facilities, and commercial shopping street. The skillful integration of public areas, residential neighborhoods, and outdoor spaces provides residents ample opportunity to interact or to retreat in solitude. The residential portion of the project is divided two areas, north and south, surrounds a large mountainous region at the center of the site. The main pedestrian entrance is marked by a large open plaza, inviting residents into the residential areas, or leading them along the retail shopping street running the length of the project along the main access boulevard. To the east is a large lake, richly landscaped and forming a natural barrier to the outside world.
Two main vehicle entrances are situated at either end of the main access boulevard, forming a loop within the project. The access road also winds north along the foot of the mountainous terrain to the northern residential district. Linking walking paths between neighborhoods and along waterways reflect the people-oriented philosophy of the circulation system that focuses on convenience, comfort, and security.
The overall design fully reflects the spatial integration of internal area and the external environment. Natural axis, linking circulation, and exterior spatial nodes lead residents through the project in a natural and organic manner, allowing them to experience the beauty of nature close to home.
